Five copies of the same file. One item, five places.
DOCZ recognizes a file by its content, not its name. Wherever it is — this computer, an external drive, a teammate's laptop — it is the same item, and you decide where it stays.

How it works
Every group has its folders
Your company, each team, your family and you personally get an asset folder. A file always hangs in a group's folder.
Pick the mode of each folder
Only indexed (stays on the computer), mirrored (on the computer and online) or moved online (we keep where it came from). The local copy is deleted only after the online fingerprint matches.
You choose what to do with duplicates
DOCZ shows the same file in every place it found it. Keep one record of all places, or keep it in one place. Nothing is deleted without your choice.
What DOCZ does today
One identity per file
The SHA-256 fingerprint of the content. The same bytes sent twice are stored once.
Every edit is a version
A changed file stays the same item with a new version: fingerprint, size, when, who and from which device.
Private between owners
When the same file belongs to two companies, each sees only its own names, folders and places — and whoever includes a partner shows where it came from.
Every move in the audit log
Indexed, mirrored, moved, chosen, shared: what was done, by whom and where.
Links with proof
A tracked link per recipient: each opening recorded with time and place.
Trash for 30 days
When a co-owner deletes, only their record leaves; the last owner sends it to a 30-day trash.

Questions
What happens when the same file is on two computers?
It is one item in DOCZ with two places. DOCZ shows it under Duplicates and asks you: keep one record of both places, or keep it in one place only.
Does DOCZ delete files on my computer?
Only when you choose it, and only after the online copy is checked by its fingerprint. The server never deletes your local files; the app on the device does it after checking.
What does "only indexed" mean?
The file stays on your computer. Online, DOCZ keeps where it is (computer, drive, folder), its fingerprint and its size — not the bytes.
If another company has the same file, can they see my folders?
No. The file is stored once, but each owner sees only its own names, folders, places and history. A partner sees yours only if you include them, and then sees that it came from you.
What happens when I edit a file?
It becomes a new version of the same item. Earlier versions with stored bytes can still be opened.
Is there a desktop app?
It is being built for Mac and Windows and is not available yet. Today files enter through the web and through the socialDNA products.
